Cedar Ridge Academy is an independent, family-owned private international therapeutic boarding school that has effectively worked with troubled teens since 1996. Through modeling and teaching, Cedar Ridge Academy staff guide youth in a process of positive behavioral change as they acquire the skills and self-knowledge to form healthy relationships with others and utilize their individual inner strengths to become mature, well-balanced, productive persons.
Dedicated to the belief of using the least restrictive measures necessary to induce change, Cedar Ridge Academy emphasizes increasing autonomy and self-management on the part of the students while at the same time providing close adult supervision and monitoring.
Cedar Ridge Academy utilizes licensed therapists, a consulting clinical psychologist and physician, a guidance counselor and certified teachers. We pride ourselves on having a highly skilled staff of professionally licensed therapists, certified teachers, and trained residential supervisors. All three program components weave together to provide students with a balanced, integrated approach to supporting change in their lives.
Therapists at Cedar Ridge Academy utilize industry established principles that work in conjunction with each other to cultivate the individual and family change needed for long-term success. The underpinnings of the program are grounded in safety. The safety and well-being of our students is paramount and directs treatment plans and goals. Individual therapy is focused on improving the student’s behavior, emotional adjustment, and social functioning as identified in the individual’s treatment plan.
Group therapy is facilitated through the week and corresponds to the group’s therapeutic needs as well as the individual’s treatment plans. Cedar Ridge facilitates reconnecting with the family and transitioning home through individualized planning with the child and family team.
Accredited Private Academy
Cedar Ridge Academy utilizes proven online classes in conjunction with our on-campus licensed teaching staff to provide a blended learning environment. Certified teachers work with students on an individual tutorial or small group direct instruction basis to provide academic assistance, supplemental instruction, and experiential learning activities.
Cedar Ridge Academy requires eighty percent competency for students to successfully complete assignments before moving on to new content. Students are provided with academic assessment, skills remediation, accommodations for learning differences, career guidance, college counseling, ACT and PSAT preparation and testing. Our year round, fully accredited high school offers a traditional school schedule from 8:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This self-paced learning environment is ideal for credit recovery or credit acceleration. The average ACT score for the graduates of the 2013-2014 school year, was 27.4.
Cedar Ridge Academy offers comprehensive academic services to students with learning differences, facilitated and overseen by a full-time, certified special education coordinator. Each student who has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan in place at admission will receive all interventions outlined in that plan, coordinated with the home school district as necessary. Students who qualify for accommodations and modifications can receive comprehensive academic services and interventions provided by the multidisciplinary team: the special education coordinator, the guidance counselor, the academic director, and the classroom teachers. Speech and Language Services and Occupational Therapy may be available off-campus via outside providers, but are not a routine service on campus.
Cedar Ridge Academy has authorization from the federal government to enroll international students. The intercultural interactions here on campus provide a supportive environment to balance the students as they are presented with environmental challenges allowing for increased learning and personal development.
