The Independent Small Programs Alliance (ISPA) is a strategic alliance of smaller, independent programs, which have joined together to provide the best possible services in education, treatment and therapy for children, youth and young adults. Our members represent Wilderness Programs, Residential Treatment Programs, Latency Age Programs, Boarding Schools, Therapeutic Boarding Schools and Transitional Programs /Emerging Adult Programs.

ISPA members serve troubled children youth and young adults as well as those just needing extra help between the ages of 6 and 26. Young people served may present: Autism, Down Syndrome, Developmental Disabilities, Depression, Oppositional-Defiant Disorder, Reactive-Attachment Disorder, adoption issues, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and traits of developing personality disorders; poor academic achievement, lack of motivation and behavioral problems, anger management issues, drugs, alcohol, substance and dishonesty; Aspergers Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, dual diagnosis: Attention Deficit/Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Non-verbal Learning Disorders, executive function problems; lack of success in making a satisfactory adjustment in their homes, schools, or social relationships; low self-esteem, and may be hyperactive; suffer anxiety, eating disorders, and learning disabilities; students may have personality characteristics (Axis II) that include traits of narcissism/entitlement, dependence, avoidance, passive aggressiveness and subtle oppositionalism; and students who have found that more traditional schools are not meeting their emotional and/or academic needs, but who have made a decision to refocus and move toward building a more satisfying, healthy, and meaningful life.
